Rated as the finest vintage clothing store in New York and one of the best vintage clothing stores in the country, TheFamily Jewels located in Chelsea will surely not disappoint. Whilst having multiple gag attacks, we ran into Lillian, the owner of The Family Jewels and had the oppurtunity to have a short Q & A.
CL: How long have you been in business?
Lillian: This gem has been running for about 35 years.
CL: What do you love most about what you do?
Lillian : Finding wonderful pieces brings me joy. Also, I love meeting the creative costumers who stop by.

CL: What kind of vintage can you find here?
Lillian: We carry everything from Victorian / turn of the century, to 80s-90s. We also sell one of a kind designer fashions for women including fabulous 1920’s beaded flapper dresses, 1930’s slinky satin bias cut lacy nightgowns, 1940’s flowery rayon print dresses, 1960’s and 70’s poly designer clothing and early 80’s fashions. For men we carry beautiful vintage tuxedo jackets, shirts, cumberbuns, links and bow ties and MORE!
CL: Any tips on shopping for vintage?
Lillian: Quality and fit are the two most important things. If it is destined for you, you’ll know it!
